Nokia N91 Guide: An Evaluation of Features, Design and Performance

,
Software To Make Music :

N91, a member of Nokia N-series is positioned as a music phone by its manufacturer. With a comprehensive list of features and good looks, the handset grabs the attention of any mobile user. But is all the hype around this Nokia mobile phone really worthy or is simply a marketing buzz. In this article we will try to make an assessment on the performance of Nokia N91.

Nokia N91 Guide: An Evaluation of Features, Design and Performance

Features:

The feature list is long and comprehensive. Music, camera, multimedia, personalization features and huge memory- Nokia N91 has all. The music player supports all popular file formats like MP3, AAC, M4A, eAAC and WMA which is impressive. The handset has other music capabilities like play lists, album art, preset equalizer settings and ID3 tags. But to play iTunes you need a upgraded software, which takes the sheen out of this music phone. The sound quality and volume levels are great and soothing to ears. The handset boasts of a 2-megapixel camera which shoots average quality pictures and in no way can be touted as a replacement to digital cameras. The resolution of 1600 x 1200 is good for sending MMS. Nokia N91 has Lifeblog which is a digital photo album for photographers and bloggers. The feature enables you to post your images on the blogs which is a novelty for mobile users. The handset also has multitude of connectivity options like 3G, Bluetooth 1.2, Tri-band GSM support, USB and Wi-Fi. There is no Infrared but rest of the connectivity options are enough to offer uninterrupted connectivity.

Design:

Nokia N91 is bulky with measurements of 113.1mm x 55.2mm x 22mm and 156 grams in weight, but nonetheless in comparison to other smart-phones it stands good. The stainless steel casing adds durability and solidity to the handset. The keypad is not an encouraging one mainly because of small keys but the soft blue light surrounding the keys makes the keypad distinct allowing you to type in the dark.

Performance:

Barring a few features Nokia N91 has the potential to meet users expectations. A 4GB hard drive creates enough space to store loads of songs and images. The voice-quality and audibility is good and meets the standard of latest developments in mobile telephony. The Nokia N91 [http://www.mobilerainbow.org/nokia/Nokia-N91.html], quite true to its reputation is an excellent music phone with loads of space for music but has some flaws which if fixed will give it wider acceptance, but if you are a music lover who wants to carry his collection then this handset should definitely be considered.

7 Easy Steps to Making Beats

,
Software To Make Music :

This seven step formula is the process of making beats. Beat making is not rocket science. By understanding the basic principles and concepts of music production, you should be able to move through the whole process with ease and simplicity. Just like baking, music has its own formula for the development of a song.

7 Easy Steps to Making Beats

All music software programs have a sound editor that helps you in your music arrangement of sounds. Whether you are using samples or recording your own sound, you will be using a sound editor to compose all your songs. Get a basic understanding of how your music software works before applying this formula.

Here is a seven step formula for making music:

Step1: Choose material for your song. If you are using samples, compile all the sounds that you would like in your song arrangement. You'll need kick drums, percussion, bass lines, melodic leads, vocals, pads, and sound effects.

Step2: Song structure. Understanding what each instruments role is in your song will give you a better understanding what each instrument is supposed to do.

Step3: Get your music down. This is the process of recording your song without editing. Get a rough draft of what your song might sound like. Start with your drum sequencing first to get the rhythm of the song going. Then, record other instruments in a freestyle manner just to get an idea of what the final sound will be like.

Step4: Tracking the parts. Assign all your recorded sounds to track lanes in your sound editor starting with the drums as the foundation. It's important to arrange all the instrumental sounds in logical order based on how the structure of the song will progress.

Step5: Editing your music. This is when you'll be fine-tuning your song. Cut and paste or delete patterns in your arrangement using your sound editor. Make any adjustments that are needed.

Step6: Finalizing your song. Finally, after editing your song, add EQing and EFX's while monitoring your stereo master meters on your mixer. You are now ready to record your mix.

Step7: Analyze your mix. Listen to your song as many times as you can in different audio sound systems. Pinpoint any oddities and go back to correct them. Make copies to hand out and get feed back from friends.

This seven step formula is the foundation of making beats. Should you ever get stuck, follow this formula for a quick and easy reminder. Take the time to understand how your music software works and master this seven step formula. This will be your road map to musical success.

Brain Training

,
Software To Make Music :

The brain is the most extraordinary organ gifted to man. But it is not to be taken for granted. Simulation and exercise are its only fodder, for keeping it up and running. Besides improving brain function, it also protects against cognitive decline. Research tells us that just using the brain, veritably increases the number of dendritic branches that connect brain cells.

Brain Training

Why is it so important to exercise our brains?

In laymen language, without exercise, the brain is prone to getting atrophied or destroyed. The benefits are both short-term (improved concentration and memory, sustained mental clarity, coherent thinking and co-ordination), and long-term (creation of a "brain reserve" that guards against Alzheimer's).

How exercise trains the brain?

Christin Anderson, MS, fitness coordinator of the University of San Francisco, explains that exercise affects many sites within the nervous system and sets off pleasure chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine that make us feel calm, happy, and euphoric.

Listed below are some ways in which you can train your brain, ensure sound operation and persistently improve its performance:

Engage your brain with unfamiliar tasks:

It is important to challenge your brain to learn novel tasks, especially ones you have not experimented before.

Egs:

Preparing a new dish, learn a software application, shop at a different grocery store, play a new computer game.
Switch the hand you normally use to control the computer mouse, television remote, to brush your teeth, or dial the phone.

You will notice that you are quite uncomfortable and awkward at handling it at the initial stage. But don't worry you are teaching your brain to be flexible and equipping it to handle new chores.

Travel Stimulates Your Brain

Travel is a great way to stimulate your brain. It worked for our ancestors, whose nomadic lifestyle provided tremendous opportunity for visiting new places, learning new things and discovering unknown facts.

Neurobics

Neurobics is a unique assortment of brain exercises employing your five physical senses and your emotional sense in unexpected ways, encouraging you to stir up your everyday routines. They help your brain manufacture its own nutrients that strengthen, preserve, and grow brain cells.

Try using more than one of your senses in an everyday task:

Egs. Read while you are eating, write while listening to a lecture.

Physical Exercise

Did you know that physical exercise is also good for your brain? It is important because it influences the rate of creation of new neurons in our brains.Brisk walking for an hour or running, are excellent brain stimulators.

Read

"Read, read, read," says Dr. Amir Soas of Case Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland. Don't just limit your reading to magazines and newspapers. Try reading two kinds of books at the same time. Alternate, fiction with non fiction. They will not only help enrich your vocabulary but will also call out to both your creative and your practical sides.

Strengthen your memory

Try to memorize the phone numbers you use most often.

Try to recollect and recapitulate facts and information you have gathered in a day. This will help you recall it later when need arises.

Try to recollect the headlines of the morning daily you read.

There are plenty of programs out there that will help with your memory. "Brain Age" or "Big Brain Academy" for the Nintendo DS are recommended and fun. These games were specifically made for improving your memory.

Learn

This is a versatile thing. Never divorce yourself with learning. Try learning one or two facts daily, make it a habit. Before going to bed, ask yourself, what you learnt for the day. Help your children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends with their subjects, project etc.

Solve problems

Most newspapers supply fresh sudoku or crosswords everyday. Try your hand at brainteasers, riddles and different types of puzzles sold in books. You can even avail of a good supply on the internet. Try solving these. These hone your problem solving skills. Play scrabble and storm over the Rubik's cube for 15 mins daily.

Exercise your structuralizing ability

Pick a sentence from a magazine or newspaper and try to make another sentence using the same words.
Practice fixing the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle together as quickly as possible. Improve upon the time you take to solve it.

Exercise your logic abilities

Logic is the art of reasoning--finding an orderly sequence for disparate elements. Don't use a written list while shopping. Instead, use memory aids, such as forming a complete word, or one that can be completed by adding a certain vowel or consonant from the first letters of the words for the things you need to buy. Or, use anything that works for you.

Exercise your verbal abilities

Listen to the morning news on the radio or TV. During the day, jot down the main points of the news that you remember. Try adding new words to your dictionary everyday. Each time you come to the end of a chapter in a book you are reading, summarize it as briefly as possible. Do the same for the whole book when you finish it.

Move your fingers to improve your brain:

Motor activities that use your fingertips, like crocheting, knitting, playing the piano etc. are reported to stimulate the brain. A map of the brain shows that the nerve endings on your fingertips correspond to more areas of the brain than any other body area, except perhaps the tongue and lips.

Sing To Solve Problems

When you are alone in your car, try singing about something you are working on. This stimulates your right brain. It is easier to rhyme when you sing than when you just speak or write. This is because the right brain is better at pattern recognition.

Let the music Play

Use the Mozart Effect - classical music increases brain activity more positively than other kinds of music. Two pieces of Mozart's music; Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major (K. 448) and Piano Concerto No. 23 (K. 488), were found to have this effect.

Stimulate brain acuity with self-massage

Acupressure points on your neck, at the base of the skull, helps improve concentration and memory.

Eat right

Increase the intake of foods containing omega fatty acids (known to boost intellectual stamina) such as flax and hemp seeds, and fish.

How You Can Copy Xbox Games Easily

,
Software To Make Music :

If you are very fond of video gaming this is a report you will probably find most helpful. Below you are going to find out the best process for reproducing your favorite video games at home with your personal computer. You may be like thousands of others who fear this is a very complex process, but you will be pleasantly surprised at just how simple it can be.

How You Can Copy Xbox Games Easily

The tips and techniques contained here are going to work for all of the major game systems, which is amazing in and of itself. You will be able to replicate Wii, PS3 and Xbox games with ease. The same will be true of computer-based games and a few of the older dated systems that are still around today.

There is one very important area we must cover before continuing. You are only allowed to use this process to create a backup copy of a game you have paid for yourself. This is not a way to copy proprietary software that you have not purchased a copy of; copyrights are in place to protect the artists and creators of this content.

Many people attempt to create back up disks using the same software they would use for creating a music CD, this of course is never going to work when you want to copy a video game.

All of this brings us to the issue of safeguards that are included in every game. These are included to prevent your home computer or laptop from reading the game disc. You will not be able to create a viable clone because your computer is incapable of understanding the software contained on a game system disc, at least not correctly.

The good news is a few organizations determined there was a market for software that would allow gamers to back up their precious game discs, and have created the technology that will allow you to get around a games copyright guards. In no time, you will find several such companies offering software that allows your PC to read the data and effectively replicate it on a disc of your choosing.

When searching for a program that allows you to copy video games remember to choose one that allows duplication of a wide range of products. Even though you may only have one system at the moment, you may decide to purchase another model later. You want to be prepared to back up your games on a variety of different systems. It is not uncommon for one person to own two or more different gaming platforms.

In addition to flexibility, you want a program that offers you a guarantee. You can feel confident about the product when you know you can get your money back should you have a problem with the software.

Once you install the duplicating software on your computer, the next step is pretty simple. With a few clicks of your mouse, you are ready to insert the original game for copying to your hard drive.

When the copy is complete, you will need to remove the game disc and insert a blank disk in the drive. At the end of the process, you will have two complete copies of the game.

These duplicating programs are simple, just about anyone can use them successfully.

Once you have the correct software on your computer, you can copy video games in a matter of minutes. You will never have to worry about your game investment, use the copied version and if it becomes damaged simply make a new one from the pristine original!

Communications on the Road For the Full Time RV'er

,
Software To Make Music :

A huge concern for people that are looking into the Full Time RV Lifestyle is keeping in touch with their family and friends, and also being able to run their business while they are traveling.

Communications on the Road For the Full Time RV'er

Well there are a number of ways that one can stay in contact while on the road. The first and most obvious would be the cell phone. If you have a cell phone with a nation wide package, calling friends, loved ones, or business contacts will not be a major expense.

But today it is almost a necessity to also have a full time Internet connection. With many family members staying in contact by email, websites and blogging, it is now almost imperative to be able to have regular access to the web. Especially if you are running a business out of your rig, you cannot afford to be without an Internet connection.

What many people do not realize is the fact that you can connect to the Internet through the cellular network. When this is first brought to most people's attention, they usually visualize a Blackberry or some similar devise to connect to the web and download email. But it is actually much more than that. A computer can be connected to the Internet via the cell phone network, and you can have high speed Internet almost anywhere that there is a cell phone signal. In many cases you can get an Internet connection even when the signal is too weak to make a cell phone voice call.

Now there are a couple of ways that you can do this. First if your provider allows what is called tethering, you can get a cable that connects from your cell phone to the computer, and with a bit of software, and an Internet package from your cellular provider, you are on line. You just have to make sure that you have a 3G or EVDO enabled phone, which most modern cell phones and smart phones are.

The other way is to buy a small unit that plugs into a USB port. This unit is basically a cell phone that connects your computer to the Internet. Many providers will give you these units for free if you sign up for a 2 or 3 year contract.

In most cases the speeds that you will get will match many cable and DSL speeds. In fact the upload speed is almost always faster than cable, since cable upload speeds are usually pretty slow.

A quick scan of pricing for this service shows it to be in the neighborhood of to per month for most providers. This price will give you about 3 to 5 gigabytes of data depending on the provider also. 3 to 5 gigabytes is usually enough for most people as long as you are not into downloading music and movies. Depending on the provider there could also be a monthly maximum. That is you would never be charged more than a certain amount, usually 0 even if you do go way over you gigabyte allowance. A bit of research on the Internet would soon tell you which provider would give you the best coverage area, and the best data deal.

To get Internet in very remote areas, there is an option that can be used with some cell phones and USB Internet sticks, and that is an external antenna. Many very new phones do not have a place to plug in an antenna, but a lot of slightly older phones do. Also some of the USB data sticks also have a place where you can connect an external antenna. There is a website called cellantenna dot com that has information on cell phone antenna adapters and cell phone antennas. Just look at the bottom right hand corner of their home page.

With an external antenna mounted on top of your rig, you may be able to get another 15 or 20 miles away from the nearest cell phone tower before you lose your signal.

On the cell antenna site you can also find cell amplifiers that help your signal even more.

So with a cellular Internet connection you never again have to worry about staying in touch with your friends and relatives. You can also run your business out of your RV from beside that fly fishing lake in Canada, or that beach on the gulf of Mexico, your customers will never know the difference.

In future articles I will go into satellite Internet and WiFi Internet connections. Needless to say you need never be without an Internet connection if you are Full Time RV'ing. When you give up your house to go full time on the road, you will also give up a lot of bills. So if you have to pay a bit more for Internet it will be more than offset by the amount of money you are saving on your other bills.

10 Tips To Foster Creativity In Your Children

,
Software To Make Music :

If you are a parent today in the western world, you have joined a very special club.

10 Tips To Foster Creativity In Your Children

A club of parents cast adrift, drowning in self-doubt while dodging waves of pyscho-babble lurching at them from every direction. It's easy to throw blame around but what is the main question we all want the answer to? "How do I help my child unfold to be their very best in today's world"?

Two words: Unity and Creativity.

Unity: Parenting these days is such an alone business. Parents need a place where they can come together and unify. To know that their children will do best when others take part in the mentoring process, beyond the boundaries of home and family. Consider one parent mentoring another's child and the other mentoring theirs. Share your challenges and keep things positive in the group dynamics. Another important way to have children mentored is by having them work on creative projects with people of all ages.

10 Tips to Foster Creativity in Your Children

Encourage your kids to sign up and embrace something that they love. Whether it's drumming, hip-hop or clown school; give them opportunities to go out, sign up and then make sure to give them the time and space to choose to do the work required at home.

1) Comedy. Join a comedy troupe. Then when someone asks "What are you.. a comedian?" They can answer: "Yes!" Which reminds me; a cat, a poodle and giraffe go into a bar...

2) Start a business. Dog walking. Cat sitting. Lawn mowing. Make something cool that people need like funky knitted hats. Find ways to get customers and learn how to keep them as well.

3) Write a family history. It could be a book, a video a la Ken Burns or it could be a blog. When you combine personal history with story-telling you end up with a powerful creative skill.

4) Make some protest songs. If you play an instrument you could write songs using your guitar or piano. If not, there are great music-creating software programs out there. Go out a sing those songs wherever and whenever you can.

5) Muppets! Create your own. Find a character. Do parties. Go to hospital wards and have your new creation meet and greet. (That's how Elmo started)

6) Knitting or Crocheting. This is huge these days with kids in their teens and twenties. Their are knitting raves, flashmob knitting and it's just a great thing that's being re-invented. Yarn-balming around telephone poles. Knitting cell-phone covers, wine bottle covers, dog coats and more. This ain't your Granny's knitting!

7) Claymation. It's slow. Painstakingly so, but amazing. If you are willing to put in the time, you can create new universes and have them do what you want to do and say what you want to say.

8) Filmmaking. This is how the great directors started. Just doing it on their own on zero or minimal budgets. Sometimes, we can tell the very best story when we are limited in the way we can tell that story. Filmmaking on a budget can do that.

9) Cooking. Some film directors have likened making a film to cooking a meal: Choosing your meal and getting the recipes is like the script. Shopping for the perfect ingredients is like shooting the film. Cooking the meal is like editing and the place setting and the food placement is like the theatrical opening of the show. See food that way and open up to a whole new experience in dining.

10) Write and perform your own musical on a theme that means something to you. This gets you to do some acting, singing, script-writing, set and costume design, marketing and build your organizational skills (when you get others involved).

It's not important what creative outlet your child chooses, how they do it or what they can do with it. it really is the process that enriches their lives. It teaches so many skills like patience, perseverance, faith in themselves and most important of all; it teaches them to marvel at the creative process from chaos to completion. A skill that many have lost appreciation for.

One last thing: If you are reading this, you are a parent who cares. Sometimes that may be all you need but never underestimate your child as a resource to guide you in what to do as a parent. Ask them. You may be surprised by their answers. Share in their creative endeavors as an impassioned spectator. Join in their communities and honor their mentors who earn your trust.

Empowering this new generation will give them something that stays with them their whole life. One of the most powerful forces for change is creativity. Nurture this in your children and you will open a place for self-worth to grow. A fantastic opportunity to believe in themselves. You have that power. That may be one of the greatest creative acts in a lifetime. Make it so!

Software To Make Music :

Loyal followers call him the Blue Blur, his creators named him Sonic the Hedgehog, but to all he remains the superhero who has provided endless hours of entertainment for the entire family. Sonic the Hedgehog is the most searched item on the Internet with almost 500 thousand searches per month. This would mean that the online version is hurting the sales of the retail version of the game made by SEGA. But many marketers would not agree with that conclusion, arguing that online games make more of a sales pitch, which entice gamers to find their way to the retail store and get a copy of the console version. This is mostly due to the fact that an online game could never pack the punch Sega can put in a CD, or DVD.

Variations of Sonic Games Available on the Web

The online version of Sonic games is available in Adobe Flash; the initial version developed in 1996 was made with Macromedia. After Adobe purchased Macromedia, they further developed the software, making is easy to use, flexible and with a range of new features. As a result the number of website owners who want to sponsor the game has also increased. Sonic games have become more complex with good themes, great background music and also improved special effects. It captures the imagination of the gamers. The excitement of the game is also increased. There are treasure collecting, green hills in the background, combined with speed and acceleration. The games are also available in the Internet as puzzle games, flash scene creators, actions games and many other such varieties available for the gamers, all these are made in flash.

Still no one knows what is that mystic around this popular Hedgehog hero, which pulls millions of consumers to buy the games. The other exciting part of the story is that Nintendo has joined with SEGA to create the new version called Sonic and Mario at the Olympic games. Software To Make Music :

If you spend some time surfing the net you have no doubt come across several business opportunity marketing sites advertising Infinite Income Plans to secure your financial future. Their often enticing literature is a call to action.

How to Secure Your Financial Future With an Infinite Income Plan - Review the Facts

"Secure Your Financial Freedom" or "You Are One Click Away From Infinite Income".

If your drawn into the extended ad copy of these sites the words begin to hypnotize you with the lure of a dream lifestyle, never working, only playing like a Hollywood celebrity. The testimonials from successful users on the infinite income plan only heighten your belief.By the time you get to the bottom of the story your hooked. But do people really make infinite cash from such opportunities?

Infinite income, maybe not, but are people getting rich? Definitely yes.

Every week, across the globe, several feel good rags to riches stories involving internet entrepreneurship are broadcast across the social media. People everyday are literally making millions online and you can too. You see the internet is a geographically unrestricted marketplace making the possibility of growing an infinite customer base and an infinite income stream a reality. No longer is your idea or opportunity determined by the size of your local market. You can now market to the global community. All you need is a product that people may be interested in and the potential to develop an infinite online income is born.

While historical evidence shows there are several ways to make money online the hottest infinite income plans revolve around digital products, as these, once written or developed do not require mass reproduction, handling, posting and or shipping. More importantly digital products can be stored inside your website and delivery to the consumer is instant.

Digital products, commonly referred to as digital downloads come in many forms from eBooks, video tutorials, software, games, movies, music, and more recently software applications for phones and mobile devices. The digital revolution is exploding and with the worlds major population centres, India and China flooding to the net, there is no shortage of people hungry for digital products.

While many retailers are struggling as a result of decreased sales, increased overheads and unstable financial markets, the digital retail industry is already a billion dollar industry, and there is no sign of a slowdown. The internet is the new gold rush, but beware, not everyone who stakes their claim makes money.

For your infinite income plan to succeed you need to find a business opportunity that not only offers a strong catalog of digital merchandise, but one that also trains you in the key elements of success. It takes a lot more than a good product and flashy storefront to make you money online. The key to success is branding yourself to attract and retain a loyal customer base who act as viral marketers on your behalf.

When conducting an infinite income plan review of the opportunities advertised online ask yourself the following questions:

Does the company have a strong economically competitive product catalog?
Is this catalog regularly updated?
Am I provided with ongoing and regular product and marketing training?
Is there opportunity for me to personally brand my business, products and services?
Is there ability to leverage my business through building my own marketing team?
Does the opportunity show me how to develop and market my own personally branded products?
Does the opportunity offer professional sales support to help me close my sales?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, the chances are you will be working hard to complete someone else's infinite income plan, not your own. If the answer to all these questions is yes then your definitely on the right path in your quest for infinite income online.

If your looking to secure your financial future online by signing up to an infinite income plan review the facts before you pay your money.

Rip Xbox 360 Games Easily

,
Software To Make Music :

Want to rip Xbox 360 games or did you just click on this article to see what I was on about? Well keep on reading because I will explain. To rip or ripping as it is more commonly known in the copying business is to take information or data from one source and make an image file of that information ready to store on another type of media or in a separate place.

Rip Xbox 360 Games Easily

Why would someone want to rip media?

I am glad you have asked this question. Someone may want to rip certain types of media for all different types of reasons, however the most common reason for wanting to rip one type of media is to make a backup or duplicate copy of it, the reason for this is because with this backup in place they know that their file is always protected because even if they damage the original game, movie or music disk then they can simply replace it with another copy.

How to Rip Xbox 360 games

For the reason of creating backup copies many people look for the easiest way to rip their video games, luckily you have found it. First of all you will need hardware on your computer that allows you to read video games. This hardware is a DVD writer drive and luckily for you most computers have one bundled into them, so If you have purchased the computer you are sitting on in the last ten years then you will more than likely have a writer drive.

You will also need special software that allows you to rip and copy Xbox 360 games quickly and easily, it is very important that you have this software because without it you will not be able to make copies off your games. This software can be picked up online or from a local store, however I have noticed their more affordable online.

When you have both DVD writer and the special game copying software you are ready to make some copies of your games. Firstly install the special game copying software on your computer and once you have done this load up the software. Once the software has loaded insert the game you want to copy or rip. Once the disk is inserted you will need to rip the disk onto your computer. Luckily the computer does this when you click once by telling the computer to make an image file of your disk.

An image file is a file of your whole computer game disk, from this point you can either leave the file on your personal computer for future use or you can copy this image file to a disk by using the same software. This simple method will save you thousands of dollars and will also save your video games from damage.

The Trader's Essential Tools

,
Software To Make Music :

I trade between whole numbers

The Trader's Essential Tools

I trade between whole numbers because generally corrections that occur between the whole numbers are smaller and more manageable than corrections that occur close to non-whole numbers. The experienced traders are generally taking profit at whole numbers, selling into volume, while the inexperienced are buying into an ending trend, thus being caught in and carved up in a correctional profit taking trap.

It's better to trade after a whole number once the correction is completed, rather than before a whole number when the correction is about to begin. For example I don't buy at .80 - .90 as the price approaches .00. (see chart) Being a whole number, I went long, after the correction finished and the market proved itself to me by also moving into new highs on volume, confirming that the market was actually moving higher (the entry signal price bar would be above the .00 plus mark), then trading to the next whole number, to exit at .00. With more experience and Elliot Wave analysis you will learn to see market re-balancing and support points as the market moves through time and price. You will learn to see the 10 patterns corrections fall into, giving you an understanding of their beginning, middle and end. In the mean time until you have developed a recognition and understanding of larger corrections that occur close to whole numbers, it's best to avoid them.

Use some rules to stay cool

I need to manage myself emotionally and my position logically. A winning or losing journey can cause high anxiety. If you've developed enough intuitional, emotional trading intelligence, that's fine. If not you will need to develop a little organisational logic or run for cover!

Trade management for me is a set of logical rules I've developed to suit my trading personality. It delivers signals without any emotional decisions, from entry to exit. Being in a trade that has a set of trading rules to cover the many possible mishaps that occur along the way is very comforting. It keeps my mind clear and centred on what I need to do at every point of my position. If you don't have a set of trading rules to manage the trade or if you break or change the rules whilst in the trade it means you have become emotional, and loss will surely find you.

A trade management plan also offers the structure upon which to modify and hone your learned trading insights to improve and build your trading results. You can refine your signals as you learn to discriminate more details within a trade. It can also include organizational aspects such as preparing your mind with some focusing exercise (like meditation), clearing your workspace, having buy/sell dialogue boxes checked and ready to go, peace and quiet - or loud music if that suits you! All your software needs to be checked and ready to use. There is nothing worse than having technical glitches when you have your money in the market and its moving fast!

A mechanical method is a good place to start learning some of the basic trading rules you will want to make your own. The mechanical method I use as 'trade management' is a Japanese concept called Renko, which is now becoming common in basic charting programs. Visually it has simple black and white boxes making it easy to understand. Using Renko on daily default setting is fine - the box size is calculated much like the Average True Range (ATR) taking into consideration the daily range. The clear change in box from white to black is the trade management exit signal. Because Renko takes the price and range into its calculation it is essentially taking the personality of the trend into consideration. Renko doesn't take time into the equation.

(Another formidable concept is the Darvas Boxes). Renko gives the market room to move, that is, it allows the market to run, accommodating any reasonable swings but protects profits. It's not a perfect concept but it does take a balanced stand on most of the necessary aspects that normally elude us in riding a trend to the max. It manages the common error of placing stops too close or taking profit too early for no just

Mobile Applications and the Materials for Their Manufacturing

,
Software To Make Music :

What comes into your mind when you hear the word "mobile application"? Usually, you would think that they are programs that you use on a smartphone such as the Apple iPhone. Well then, your definition sounds right. Mobile applications are simply defined as programs designed for phone use. Games, mobile marketing software, and even fun applications have been installed by users for various purposes. With the rising popularity of smartphones, people have been using mobile applications several years. Some people would say that mobile applications are a factor to make mobile phones, along with tablet personal computers, as future replacements for desktop and laptop computers, audio/music players, and radios as consumer gadgets. If that statement is true, then mobile programs will soon become part of the daily lives of people.

Mobile Applications and the Materials for Their Manufacturing

How is a phone-based application made? To answer that question, it requires mobile software development tools that use various programming languages such as C, Pascal, and C++. These languages may be too old for creating various computer programs today but their existence continues because software developers find their codes reliable to use on smaller handheld devices like cell phones. The development tools are used to create controls and codes for programs, and in order for them to be tested to ensure quality control and functionality, device supporting platforms are used. In order for you to familiarize with mobile application development, here are the commonly used tools and platforms.

Sun Microsystems, now owned by Oracle Corporation, introduces a Java development tool called Java Platform, Micro Edition (ME). Its source code was authorized under the GNU General Public License in December 22, 2006. Java ME features the Connected Limited Device Configuration, which consists of a subgroup of the Java-class libraries and is the important requirement for a Java virtual machine to function. As of 2010, there are 2.1 billion phones and handheld devices that are operating using Java, making the programming language one of the most popular for mobile program development.

Microsoft has created its mobile development platform, Windows Mobile, wherein C and C++ languages are used for developing codes. It's latest release, Windows Phone 7, uses the C# language in contrast to its predecessors. Some Sony Ericsson and Palm mobile devices use Windows Mobile as their operating systems. The platform was also used for the now-cancelled smartphone of Windows, the Kin.

Other popular platforms include the Android, a Linux-based mobile operating system created by Google. Smartphones made by Samsung and LG widely used the Android operating systems due to their flexibility and speed. Apple has also created the iOS as a development platform for iPhone applications.

Mobile application development has contributed to the evolution of programming and software development. This trend has contributed to the increasing number of jobs worldwide in the information technology sector, as more and more companies seek to mobile software to improve business processes through the use of phones and tablet PCs. Speaking of tablet PCs, the Apple iPad has been widely used by millions of people since its release in 2010. Combining the rising sales of iPad with smartphones, the demand for new mobile applications has gradually increased on a global scale. Mobile software has become the "it" trend in the 21st century.

Discover How To Download Wii Games - It's Easy To Find New Wii Games Right From Your Computer!

,
Software To Make Music :

The Nintendo Wii has quickly become one of the most sought after video game systems ever launched. For months it was sold out everywhere and was considered one of the toughest finds for the Christmas seasons. One of the most exciting features of the Nintendo Wii is that you can download Wii games for immediate use instead of having to go to store each time you want a new game.

Discover How To Download Wii Games - It's Easy To Find New Wii Games Right From Your Computer!

Downloading Wii games is something that many gamers have started to take advantage of - however many people still don't know it's an option. Once you get started it's incredibly easy and can save you a boatload of cash. Let's take a look at the different options you have to find Wii downloads.

Option #1 - Download Wii Games

The first place many people go is to websites that advertise "free Wii downloads". For obvious reasons this sounds perfect, however we should point out a few things you need to know before you click that "download now" button.

What's the biggest problem with these websites? Viruses and spyware - and lots of them! There have been a number of these websites that have been shut down because many users were getting viruses and other infections. It's a risk you take whenever you use this type of website.

The second biggest complaint that we hear is that the download speeds are extremely slow. It can literally take days for just one game to finish downloading and many of the files end up being "corrupt" - meaning they don't even work. It's frustrating waiting so long for a game to download only to find out it doesn't even work.

Since these websites have the potential of harming your computer and wasting your time, we typically recommend staying away from them.

Option #2 - Download Wii Games

The second option has a lot of advantages over the first one. You can download Wii games without worrying about infecting your computer or slow download speeds.

There are now website that allow you to download unlimited Wii games, movies, TV shows and music when you sign-up as a member. There is a small charge for becoming a member (about ) and this membership lets you login and download games or movies whenever you want. This is a one-time fee that keeps you as a member for as long as you have your system.

The companies that put together these websites are obviously in the business to make a profit, so they make sure the websites have fast download speeds, the selection of games and movies is up-to-date and all of the files work and are virus free. It's important that they keep their customers happy so that they continue to make money through new members.

There's a link at the bottom of this article you can use if you want to try a risk-free trial at a couple of the most popular download websites. The software you use to be able to use the games on your Wii is included and setup takes about 5-10 minutes.

This option is a lot better than the first for obvious reasons. You don't put your computer at risk and you are dealing with a reputable business when you become a member. If you are someone who likes getting new games fairly often it's a great way to do it.

As more and more Wii owners learn about Wii downloads I'm sure that that Wii download membership websites become the "norm" for finding new games and downloads. It's much cheaper and more convenient than buying games at the store. One word of warning though - it's highly addictive!

Best Recording Software and Equipment For Your Beginner Home Recording Studio

,
Software To Make Music :

You can copy me and take away all the guesswork. If there's one thing I know how to do, it's build a beginner home recording studio from scratch for very little money.

Best Recording Software and Equipment For Your Beginner Home Recording Studio

It's hard when you're first starting out, I know. You're confused about what to buy, what you can get for free, if the components are compatible with each other, if you're going to have to buy something else to get this or that gadget to work properly.

It can be very frustrating. Let me tell you a short story about an experience I had when starting out, and you see if it sounds familiar.

I did some research on the internet and decided I needed a new MIDI device, or a MIDI cable to hook up my existing keyboard. I wasn't sure which. So I went to a "reputable" music store. I asked the two salespeople what I needed, and do you know what I found? They knew even less than I did! I was throwing out terms that they had never heard of. I was shocked and dismayed.

Then I went to another, even more reputable, music store and asked about the MIDI device I had pretty much decided to purchase. But I had one question...whether or not I needed a new sound card. This salesman acted like he knew exactly what he was talking about when he told me, "The sound card has nothing to do with it."

Even I knew that wasn't right. So I decided I would have to go it alone.

Through trial and error, (and NO help from anyone at any music stores!) I finally built a really cheap and top-functioning beginner home recording studio on your computer.

Here's what I use and recommend to all beginners looking to get started:

The software, which is the foundation of your studio, is very important. Get the wrong one, and you will be either stuck not being able to do much with it (the free stuff), or not being able to understand it and use it easily (the expensive stuff). The one I use is EASY, CHEAP, and FEATURE-RICH. That's the winning combo, folks, and I've only come across it once in my search.

The microphone is the next most important factor. Most of them require extra equipment just to be able to use it with your computer. I know a great one that is a USB plug and play model (unusual), very high quality, and also doubles as an audio interface for your guitar or other instruments.

Finally, the MIDI device. This is not required if you just want to play guitar and sing, like unplugged recordings or something. But if you want to add virtual instruments to your mix, and control all the parts easily via a keyboard, then you need one of these. And I will personally confess that this is the coolest piece of equipment you can get for your studio. Highly addictive and fun to play with. If you don't think you need it now, you will wonder what you ever did without it after you've used it for a couple of weeks!

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - 10 Easy Steps

,
Software To Make Music :

When you're just starting out how to make beats it can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Trust me I was there. But it really is easier then you think. If you're making a beat here are 10 tips that will get yo stated.

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - 10 Easy Steps

1. Pick a style- Know the style of beat you want to make before you start making it. Like rnb, rap, pop, etc. There have been plenty of beats that I made and could not figure out what style it was.

2. Pick A Major Artist- Think of a known artist that you would want to make the beat for. Like if you chose a style a rap, think now what rap artist do you want to make the beat for. Try to imagine that artist on your beat. This will make your hip hop beat-making experience a whole lot easier.

3. Listen To Their Song- Take a listen to the rap artist you are making the beat for songs. See the style. Get a feel for the kind of hip hop beats the artist raps over.

4. Formatting The Song- Very important. formatting is, the intro, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, etc. That's all it is but basically you just change the order around however you feel like it. Turn on the radio and see how your favorite artist formats there song. When instruments come in, when they drop out. The most basic form to start with is, 2 or 4 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 8 bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8 bars chorus. This is the most basic beat-making song format. This is very common in rap. If you want an even simpler way, you can create an 8 bar loop and keep it the same throughout the whole song. I have seen this done a lot.

5. Laying down the beat- I have learned that for starters, it's easier to start with the drums. Kick, Snare, Hi hat, are always a good start. Record a pattern for four bars with those first. Then layer that with maybe some toms, cow-bell, symbols, etc. Whatever you want to use. THE DRUMS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT IN MAKING HIP HOP BEATS! Your drums must hit and hit HARD. The best way to get your drums hitting hard is by not using "pitty pat" free kits you downloaded from the internet for free. If your drums are weak, then your beat is going to be weak.

6. Laying Down A Melody- This is where most hip hop beat-makers have the most trouble. Because most eat makers can't play the keys. For starters, you might want to learn basic keyboard skills. The major thing you need to learn are, major and minor scales. After you learn that, try and do different combinations and patterns with the drum beat you have made. Use an instrument like, a lead guitar, horns, clav, something that will stand out. Your melody can be however you want it, but for starters, you could do a 4 bar melody, or an 8 bar melody.

7. Layering The Beat- What is done a lot in beat making is layering. If you have your whole beat finished. You can go and make it sound bigger by layering. All you do is fill in some gaps, do the same pattern you did with one instrument with another instrument. Do this throughout your beat. This will make you beat sound a lot fatter.

8. Pan- Panning is basically having an instrument all the way to the right, all the way to the left, and anywhere in between. You pan for all kinds of different reasons. It gives each track its own little space in the stereo field. There are no rules for panning, put you have to do it. So just try it out and see what you like best.

9. The Mixdown- Very important! Very Important! Very Important! If you have a poor mix on your beat, then you have pretty much wasted your time. When mixing a beat, start with each track individually. Solo each track and make sure it sounds good by itself. EQ it if you have to, but if each track sounds good by itself, the whole beat will sound that much better. DO NOT DISTORT! If your master levels are in the red before you bounce to disc or .mp3, your distorting. Don't worry about if its not loud enough. You never ever ever want to distort. If you are distorting, check any instrument that has boom or low end, Like a kick, bass, sub, etc. these tend to distort more often.

10. The Bounce- Now that you made you're beat, Its the hottest hip hop beat ever, you want to put it on cd or upload it to the internet. When you're exporting a beat for cd, Use .wav file. 44.1 16bit. If you want to upload to the internet use, 320kbps (the highest .mp3 quality) or 128kbps. Most websites wont accept 320kbps because the file size is too big. So go with 128kbps.

These are all just guidelines to help you get started. There are millions of ways to make a beat, But this is just to help you get your feet wet if you don't know where to start.

Music & Emotions: Can Music Really Make You a Happier Person?

,
Software To Make Music :

How many times have you turned to music to uplift you even further in happy times, or sought the comfort of music when melancholy strikes?

Music & Emotions: Can Music Really Make You a Happier Person?

Music affects us all. But only in recent times have scientists sought to explain and quantify the way music impacts us at an emotional level. Researching the links between melody and the mind indicates that listening to and playing music actually can alter how our brains, and therefore our bodies, function.

It seems that the healing power of music, over body and spirit, is only just starting to be understood, even though music therapy is not new. For many years therapists have been advocating the use of music - both listening and study - for the reduction of anxiety and stress, the relief of pain. And music has also been recommended as an aid for positive change in mood and emotional states.

Michael DeBakey, who in 1966 became the first surgeon to successfully implant an artificial heart, is on record saying: "Creating and performing music promotes self-expression and provides self-gratification while giving pleasure to others. In medicine, increasing published reports demonstrate that music has a healing effect on patients."

Doctors now believe using music therapy in hospitals and nursing homes not only makes people feel better, but also makes them heal faster. And across the nation, medical experts are beginning to apply the new revelations about music's impact on the brain to treating patients.

In one study, researcher Michael Thaut and his team detailed how victims of stroke, cerebral palsy and Parkinson's disease who worked to music took bigger, more balanced strides than those whose therapy had no accompaniment.

Other researchers have found the sound of drums may influence how bodies work. Quoted in a 2001 article in USA Today, Suzanne Hasner, chairwoman of the music therapy department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, says even those with dementia or head injuries retain musical ability.

The article reported results of an experiment in which researchers from the Mind-Body Wellness Center in Meadville, Pa., tracked 111 cancer patients who played drums for 30 minutes a day. They found strengthened immune systems and increased levels of cancer-fighting cells in many of the patients.

"Deep in our long-term memory is this rehearsed music," Hasner says. "It is processed in the emotional part of the brain, the amygdala. Here's where you remember the music played at your wedding, the music of your first love, that first dance. Such things can still be remembered even in people with progressive diseases. It can be a window, a way to reach them..."

The American Music Therapy Organization claims music therapy may allow for "emotional intimacy with families and caregivers, relaxation for the entire family, and meaningful time spent together in a positive, creative way".

Scientists have been making progress in its exploration into why music should have this effect. In 2001 Dr. Anne Blood and Robert Zatorre of McGill University in Montreal, used positron emission tomography, or PET scans, to find out if particular brain structures were stimulated by music.

In their study, Blood and Zatorre asked 10 musicians, five men and five women, to choose stirring music. The subjects were then given PET scans as they listened to four types of audio stimuli - the selected music, other music, general noise or silence. Each sequence was repeated three times in random order.

Blood said when the subjects heard the music that gave them "chills," the PET scans detected activity in the portions of the brain that are also stimulated by food and sex.

Just why humans developed such a biologically based appreciation of music is still not clear. The appreciation of food and the drive for sex evolved to help the survival of the species, but "music did not develop strictly for survival purposes," Blood told Associated Press at the time.

She also believes that because music activates the parts of the brain that make us happy, this suggests it can benefit our physical and mental well being.

This is good news for patients undergoing surgical operations who experience anxiety in anticipation of those procedures.

Polish researcher, Zbigniew Kucharski, at the Medical Academy of Warsaw, studied the effect of acoustic therapy for fear management in dental patients. During the period from October 2001 to May 2002, 38 dental patients aged between 16 and 60 years were observed. The patients received variations of acoustic therapy, a practice where music is received via headphones and also vibrators.

Dr Kucharski discovered the negative feelings decreased five-fold for patients who received 30 minutes of acoustic therapy both before and after their dental procedure. For the group that heard and felt music only prior to the operation, the fearful feelings reduced by a factor of 1.6 only.

For the last group (the control), which received acoustic therapy only during the operation, there was no change in the degree of fear felt.

A 1992 study identified music listening and relaxation instruction as an effective way to reduce pain and anxiety in women undergoing painful gynecological procedures. And other studies have proved music can reduce other 'negative' human emotions like fear, distress and depression.

Sheri Robb and a team of researchers published a report in the Journal of Music Therapy in 1992, outlining their findings that music assisted relaxation procedures (music listening, deep breathing and other exercises) effectively reduced anxiety in pediatric surgical patients on a burn unit.

"Music," says Esther Mok in the AORN Journal in February 2003, "is an easily administered, non-threatening, non-invasive, and inexpensive tool to calm preoperative anxiety."

So far, according to the same report, researchers cannot be certain why music has a calming affect on many medical patients. One school of thought believes music may reduce stress because it can help patients to relax and also lower blood pressure. Another researcher claims music allows the body's vibrations to synchronize with the rhythms of those around it. For instance, if an anxious patient with a racing heartbeat listens to slow music, his heart rate will slow down and synchronize with the music's rhythm.

Such results are still something of a mystery. The incredible ability that music has to affect and manipulate emotions and the brain is undeniable, and yet still largely inexplicable.

Aside from brain activity, the affect of music on hormone levels in the human body can also be quantified, and there is definite evidence that music can lower levels of cortisol in the body (associated with arousal and stress), and raise levels of melatonin (which can induce sleep). It can also precipitate the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkiller.

But how does music succeed in prompting emotions within us? And why are these emotions often so powerful? The simple answer is that no one knows... yet. So far we can quantify some of the emotional responses caused by music, but we cannot yet explain them. But that's OK. I don't have to understand electricity to benefit from light when I switch on a lamp when I come into a room, and I don't have to understand why music can make me feel better emotionally. It just does - our Creator made us that way.

All-In-One Funeral Software

,
Software To Make Music :

Although many people find it very difficult to manage all the tasks for a funeral for a loved one, as a funeral professional, you can make these chores easier for everyone involved -- especially when it comes to creating distinctive funeral stationery, touching DVD tribute videos and high-tech funeral webcasts.

All-In-One Funeral Software

Although all-in-one software technology was created with the funeral professional in mind, the technology benefits client families as well. Streamlining the personalization activities for the death care professional, all-in-one funeral software is quick to learn, easy to use, and is there when you need it. With the time and money saved on dealing with outside vendors and re-printing funeral stationery with errors, funeral professionals are able to spend more time with their client families, serve more families and be more profitable.

With all-in-one funeral technology, funeral professionals are able to create beautiful funeral stationery, inspirational video tributes and provide online funeral webcasting services. These menu driven applications walk the user step-by-step through the set up and creation of each product. Preview modes allow you to view and make any correction to what you are going to print or burn to DVD before you perform the task eliminating printing errors, costly mistakes and last minute rushing to correct any inaccuracies. Plus, advanced options have been enabled so that each funeral product or webcast is of top-notch quality and provides client families with a fitting tribute.

Personalized Funeral Stationery

The possibilities of creating unique, personalized and coordinated funeral stationery are almost endless with all-in-one funeral software. This latest technology allows funeral professionals to create up to 450 different themes and include complete personalization. For example, a personalized funeral register book could include not only photographs that tell the story of the person's life, but also include special poems or a verse of significance. Bookmarks can be created in house by the funeral professional as a memorial keepsake and contain the lyrics of the deceased's favorite song. The possibilities are truly endless.

Professional DVD Tribute Videos

Innovative funeral software has turned the DVD tribute video process into a simple three step process that may sound complex, but is really ultra easy. With as many or as few pictures the family would like to use, a funeral professional can quickly scan the photos, add some special effects like music, transitions, or picture touch up and then burn the tribute video onto a DVD. The result is a personal and professional tribute video client families will cherish.

Reliable Funeral Webcasting

With families moving further away from their nuclear circle, sons and daughters going off to college or to serve in the military, or due to illness -- it's not always possible to attend a funeral in person. With funeral webcasting, family and friends who can't attend a funeral can view the service online in either real time or later, at their convenience. For the funeral professional, getting started with funeral webcasting requires some basic equipment and using the proper webcasting software which is also available as part of an all-on-one suite. However, the start up costs are minimal, the software is easy to use and the results are fantastic.

As difficult as it is for a client family to contend with the loss of their loved one, using all-in-one funeral software can help lighten everyone's burden just a bit. The family will know that the funeral service created was as beautiful, inspirational and fitting of a tribute that anyone could imagine. Knowing that the little details are taken care of is always a comfort at such a difficult time.

Perfecting Your Musical Timing - The Metronome

,
Software To Make Music :

Have you ever listened to your favorite guitar player or other musician and found that you are totally overwhelmed by their sense of rhythm or groove?

Perfecting Your Musical Timing - The Metronome

Human beings are not born with "perfect time" or "internal clocks". All musicians must and will spend much time practicing with a metronome, a drum machine or drum machine software to develop and perfect this necessary skill. Musicians have to learn to keep steady time in spite of their emotional and mental states which fluctuate constantly. So, daily practice with a metronome will help you master all styles of music at any tempo.

Gone are the days of the pendulum-style metronome. In our digital age, you can purchase a metronome with a modest, built-in tuner that is the size of a credit card! Also, drum machines are a great way to practice as long as you can program them really well or the factory preset rhythms may be sufficient for your needs. Just make sure the tempos are steady! Also, some metronomes/drum machines can handle odd meters.

Most musicians are unaware of the various ways to use the metronome to simulate the "feel" of a drummer or rhythm section. Here are the most common ways to use the metronome effectively:

  1. Set the beat for each quarter note for Latin, Funk, or Rock styles

  2. Set the beat on "2 and 4" to simulate the way a drummer hits the snare or hi-hat for Swing or "Back-beat" rhythms.

  3. Set the beat on "1 and 3" for Classical or Reggae.

  4. When practicing triplet groupings like 3/4, 6/8 or 12/8 set the metronome beat to eighth notes.

  5. To practice speeding up and slowing down...record the metronome doing this and practice to the play back of your recording.

  6. After a while, you will know when you are right on the beat of the metronome because you will get the sensation of not hearing the metronome while you play! Essentially, your notes are replacing the metronome beats. This will happen but requires much patience/practice to achieve. Alternately, practice playing behind, ahead and against the beat of the metronome.

  7. Create your own play-alongs by recording the changes to your favorite songs in a way that the metronome can be heard clearly along with the chord changes.

Be creative when you practice with a metronome. Remember, practice within the comfort range of your abilities but also use the metronome to practice extremely slow and fast passages. Everyone will experience at least one performance in their lives where they just felt like tempo was a real problem for them. Maybe you will rush the rhythm section or drag the beat. Practice the extremes so that when you are in live performance you will be prepared for absolutely anything!

7 Common Mistakes Studio Owners Make

,
Software To Make Music :

The music business offers a great deal of pleasure and with it can also come a great deal of dissatisfaction if the business of music is not adequately catered for. Much care must be applied to generate the necessary interest and financial benefits in an effort to enrich the business for stability and future growth.

7 Common Mistakes Studio Owners Make

Here are the commons mistakes that should be avoided at all costs!

  1. Working For Nothing. A lot of studio owners find that when they begin their business a lot of poor artists will suddenly emerge out of the wood work for help with music that is going nowhere. When I said poor artist I do not mean it in a derogatory way but rather to earmark people who do not like paying for services and nor able to deliver that killer vocal! Your involvement with 5-10 people in this group is enough to ruin your business. They neither can pay or sing; the double whammy to instant failure! Stay away from them! Read my other studio articles and you will learn the best percentage of free work and the client categories necessary for a successful business.
  2. Working In The Studio Without Corresponding Marketing Work. No business survives without marketing and in the same way any type of music business needs to be marketed to get the best possible results. As someone who has worked as a university Lecturer and Work Placement Tutor, one of the secrets some music businesses enjoy is the use of students on work placements. I always get my clients a student to work with them who can do the necessary work they themselves have no time to do. For other studio owners, perhaps it would be more beneficial for you to partner with a marketing person rather than an individual who knows the use of studio equipment like you. This might be the initial option at least!
  3. Working To Pay Bills. Sometimes I come in contact with people who have moved their studios from home to a work unit prematurely. All of which requires additional expenses. I have known of people who are not good studio engineers that occupy units that cost so much money that their lives revolve around paying the bills on the units. When do you move from a residential place to a business unit? The answer; when you have enough clients paying your bills and you can afford to pay your rent at home as well as the studio, then you are ready to move. The fact is eventually many people are more concerned about the music they leave your place with than the business unit you operate from. Unless you are recording the next Janet Jackson, Pink or Oasis album and they will be coming to lay vocals at your premises, you really need to put your business head on and work on the income minus expenses equals profit model!
  4. Working Without Contracts. As much as we may dislike major labels with a passion; there are several things worthy of emulating from major labels. A major label is unlikely to invest 1000's of pounds in anyone without first signing a contract. Yet most independents still work without contracts and when things go wrong they will go around lamenting about the worst behaviour of the human race. The truth is we need to get our business in order. If you are working with a client whether paying or unpaid, take them through your terms of service so that all are clear about the necessary details. If you agree to work with someone who is not paying and you own part of the copyright to the work, get it registered with the PRS and PPL (for UK Musicians) never leave things to chance. The human being has conditioned themselves to forget details to their favour, a bit like the banks do. It seems the bank computers always make mistakes to the banks favour! Jokes apart, the only person I will not sign a contract with is my wife!
  5. Working Without A Good Administration System. Earlier in my business life my accountant told me that every business has 3 major areas- Product Creation, Product Marketing and Sales and Product Administration.  Many creative people, major in the first section of the cycle. Sometimes it takes months to send out an invoice and another 60 days to get paid because people do not know how to chase up unpaid monies. How can a business survive with this kind of administration? I had a thought today that one of the reasons some businesses failed in the recession was because they were not solid businesses and could only thrive during economic boom; riding on the good times wave! (What are your thoughts?) My advice is, develop a solid business! Work on the 3 major areas of business.
  6. Working Too Many Long Hours. I have only one statement to make in this section - hard work is good and necessary - too much work without exercise and good rest can ruin you. We are not like a mixing desk or a piece of Logic software that can endure consistent, constant use. Even they are subject to crashing and damage
  7. Working For One Income Source. Studio hire fees can be the major way a studio owner gets paid in the beginning but it should not be the only source of income a studio generates. Look out for other work that can be just as lucrative and add value to the business. For example:

  • Engineering for a talent show. Can be paid and bring people into the studio
  • Partnering with a talent show
  • Writing songs - can be lucrative
  • Working with good artists
  • Recording jingles
  • Releasing compilations
  • Publishing songs

I am sure there are others you can think of if you try! Let your sources of income increase so that when one tap is shut the others keep you singing all the way to the bank!
